Getting Married At St. Monica's
The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.
In order for yourself and St. Monica's to prepare for your marriage, we ask you to please contact the church at least six (6) months in advance.
Below are a few tips to making the process of having your wedding here easier for you and your fiance:
Please contact Debbi Burdett, Wedding Coordinator at St Monica's, in order to start the process. Debbi can be reached at (917) 846-2537 or by e-mail at email@example.com. She will answer all questions, and help you continue with the process.
- Schedule a meeting with one of the Father's here at St. Monica. They will need to meet with you and your fiancee before the wedding can take place as well as gather all the necessary information needed to perform the ceremony. Pleace call the Church Office at (212) 288-6250 in order to schedule a meeting.
- Complete your Pre-Cana classes. The Archdiocese of New York provides marriage preparation classes for engaged couples under the "Family Life | Respect Life" program. Choosing the best marriage preparation program for you will depend upon your scheduling needs, location, costs, and preferred setting. If you would like assistance in choosing your marriage preparation program, you can contact their offices at (646) 794-3185 or http://nyfamilylife.org/marriage-preparation/classes/.
- Gather your documents. In order to be married, both you and your fiance must provide copies of your baptism, communion, and confirmation certificates along with a letter of the freedom to marry (if St. Monica's is not your parish of registration) and your marriage license
